Phoenix welcomes this popular troupe full of juicy, bubbly, high-energy people, each show is a love letter to musical improv, to each other and to our audiences.

Petting Zoo has performed in various venues around New York in 2012, including The Magnet Theater, The People’s Improv Theater, The Stonewall Inn, The Studio and Under St. Mark’s Theater. Petting Zoo also performed as part of New York Musical Improv Festival, Queens Improv Jamboree, The PIT’s Indie-Pendence Day Festival and the Up The Creek Festival hosted by The Creek & The Cave. Who knows what will hold for the animals, but one thing’s is certain: there will be some serious petting.

Join Michael Lydon (vocals, guitar),Ellen Mandel (piano, vocals), Bridget Beirne (vocals), and Dave Hofstra (bass) for an evening of cool pop jazz lead by “The Handsomest Man in the World.”

Lydon is an acclaimed (Daily News, LA Times, SF Chonicle) pop-jazz singer songwriter and guitarist who has been playing in New York for decades; and our own Villager describes Lydon’s music as “Well-honed romantic jazz.”

The Comedy of John Flynn

The Adventures of a black-market cookie salesman in NYC!

John Flynn is a writer and actor currently living in New York City. His writing has been published in the NY Daily News and in the sexual mishap anthology, Worst Laid Plans. His one man show, Dances With Pitchforks: Confessions of a Farm Boy, sold out runs at Joe’s Pub, Caroline’s Comedy Club, and Don’t Tell Mama, where it won the Backstage Bistro Award for Outstanding Comedy. He has written and performed many shows at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater in both New York and Los Angeles, including Showgirls: The Best Movie Ever Made. Ever!, Nights of Our Lives, ASSSSCAT, Project: Improviser, and Themepark Superstar. Since arriving in New York City, he has performed with and written for many wonderful and crazy people including RuPaul, Oksana Baiul, Frank DeCaro, Amy Poehler, Michael Musto, Jack McBrayer, Cyndi Lauper, Rob Corrdry, Bobby Moynihan, Deborah Gibson, and Betty Buckley. One year he dressed up as Tim Gunn for Halloween and he recommends you try it, at least once.
